The back is a single Y, so one strap runs down the spine and splits at the shoulder blades, and the ends are buttonhole tabs rather than clips, each about 4 inches long. Construction is high-stretch elastic webbing with metal adjusters and PU buckles at the joins. Nothing on the pair clips shut; it fastens the way braces did before clips existed.

Button ends are the traditional fastening for a tuxedo or a suit, and they attach to buttons sewn inside the waistband, which is why the heads of the tabs are kept small and flat. That matters if the braces are going to be worn under a waistcoat or a jacket, since there is no metal shape pushing through the cloth. Six colours are offered: black and navy blue for formal wear, wine red and dark grey for something less severe, and coffee and khaki for suits in warmer cloth. The tabs are the only part of the brace that shows once a jacket comes off, and they are finished to be looked at rather than hidden.

One size covers the range, with the straps letting out to 43 inches in total. The Y layout spreads the pull over a single point at the centre back rather than two, which keeps the weight off the outer shoulders across a long evening. Elastic through the whole length means the straps give when you reach or sit, then return. If your trousers have no interior buttons, a tailor can add them in a few minutes.
