Description
Buckle-Down prints a tie dye pattern the full length of both straps here, worked in blues and reds. The ends fasten with clips, so they attach directly to a waistband with no buttons required inside the trousers. There is nothing subtle about the design, and subtlety is not what it is for. Adjusters on both straps handle the fit, and beyond sliding those there is nothing else to set.
Festivals, themed parties, costume work and any day when a plain shirt needs breaking up are the natural settings. Tie dye carries a very specific set of associations, and a pair of braces is a lighter way of reaching for them than committing to a full shirt in the same pattern. Worn with denim they do most of the work of an outfit on their own, and they come off in seconds if the room turns out to be more formal than expected. The blues and reds are strong enough to read from across a room rather than looking washed out under artificial lights.
The straps adjust to length, so fitting them is a matter of setting the sliders once and then leaving them alone for the rest of the day. Clip them to the waistband, level the two shoulders so the pattern hangs straight, and the print does the rest of the work without any help. Between wearings they store flat in a drawer without creasing the design or dulling the color, which is more than most printed accessories manage.
