Description
Black and white piano keys run the full length of the band, drawn large enough to read as a keyboard from across a room rather than dissolving into ordinary stripes at any distance. The straps are 1.5 inch elastic with metal clips at the ends, so the pair is built as an actual suspender and not as a paper prop that lasts a single evening before giving up. There is nothing decorative about the construction underneath: a plain band, a plain adjuster, and hardware chosen to survive being clipped and unclipped repeatedly.
Musicians are the obvious wearers, pianists especially, along with DJs, entertainers, music teachers and anyone assembling a rock and roll or 1950s look for a party. Concerts, recitals, stage performances, themed nights and music department fundraisers are all natural settings for it. Worn with a black shirt and dark pants the keys are the only thing anyone will comment on all evening, which is generally the intention behind buying them in the first place. It is a costume piece that does not require an actual costume, which is why it turns up at gigs about as often as it does at parties.
The straps adjust along their length and fit most adults, so there is no sizing to work out before ordering and no risk of ending up with something that only suits one build. Heavy-duty metal fasteners and a proper elastic band mean the pair survives being packed, worn and packed again across a run of performances rather than fraying after the first outing. Rolled up, they take almost no room in a gig bag.
