Description
Braided optical fibre runs the length of both straps, lit from a small control box so the whole brace glows rather than showing a few points of light. The LEDs cycle through rainbow colours and there is no dark section in the middle, so the effect reads as a continuous strip across the chest and over the shoulders. It is a costume accessory first, and the fibre is doing the work. Both straps are lit front and back, so the effect holds up from any angle in a dark room.
Three modes are on offer, selected with a single button on the hidden control box: a smooth rainbow gradient, a fast flash and a slow blink. Batteries come pre-installed, two CR2032 cells that carry an evening and are simple to replace, so nothing needs charging and there is no cable to manage. Raves, birthday parties, stage performances, glow events, Halloween and neon-themed nights are the settings these are built for, and they work as a costume on their own. Replacement cells are easy to find, which matters more than it sounds for a pair worn a few times a year.
Underneath the lighting the braces are conventional: a 1-inch width, a Y-back, an elastic band with an adjustable buckle, and a length of 41 inches that stretches to 50. That range covers most adults, and the single strap over the back makes them quick to get on and off between changes. The clasps are steel with rubber teeth, so they hold jeans firmly without chewing the fabric, and the control box tucks away rather than hanging visible at the waist. Adjustment is by buckle rather than a sliding clamp.
