Description
The front and the back of this pair are built from different materials on purpose. Tough non-elastic webbing runs down the front so the load does not bounce, while the X-back is elastic so the shoulders can still move, and a leather crosspatch joins the two at the centre back. Reinforced rivets hold the joins, and the webbing is 2 inches wide. It is a heavier build than a dress brace, and it looks it. The result behaves differently at each end, firm where the weight hangs and giving where the body moves.
That combination is aimed at work rather than dress: a belt with tools on it pulls harder than a pair of trousers does, and a fully elastic brace lets it swing. The clips have wide-opening jaws for the same reason, since they have to take a trouser waistband and a tool belt together. Twelve colourways include black, grey, khaki, blue, dark green and red, plus camouflage and four reflective options in orange, green, blue and black for anyone working near traffic or after dark.
One size covers most builds, with the strap adjusters taking up the difference, and once the length is set the rivets and hardware hold it. Weight sits on the shoulders instead of the hips once the braces are carrying the belt, which is the whole reason for wearing them on a long day. The reflective versions are worth considering if visibility is part of the job description, since the strips sit high on the shoulder where they are seen. Clip jaws that open wide are what make the difference when a belt is already loaded.
