Description
Leather button ends are the traditional dress fastening, and they are what this pair is built around. Instead of clipping to the outside of the waistband, the tabs button onto fittings sewn inside the trousers, so nothing shows at the front and there is no metal to wrinkle or mark the cloth. The webbing is 1.4 inches wide, 75 percent polyester and 25 percent spandex, with a leather crosspatch at the back. It is the quietest of the attachment types.
Seventeen colours cover both formal and relaxed use. Black, navy, wine and dark grey handle business suits and evening wear, brown, dark brown and khaki suit softer cloth, and the plaids, the navy and white stripe and the ginger yellow are for anyone who wants the braces noticed. White and red round out the range for anyone dressing to a theme. An army green and a dusty blue sit in the range too. A button-end brace reads as more considered than a clip, which is why it works from a boardroom through to a formal evening.
The straps adjust from roughly 28 to 47 inches, and the spandex content means they stretch and recover through the day rather than going slack. The Y-back concentrates the pull at a single point on the spine, which keeps the straps from sliding outward on the shoulder. Many suit and dress trousers already have interior buttons fitted; if yours do not, sewing them in or having a tailor do it is a short job. Because there is no clip, the braces cannot be shifted along the waistband once fitted, which is the trade for the cleaner line.
